As the Principal of St. Joseph’s Anglo - Indian Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Calicut, I uphold the great legacy and noble traditions handed down by the Servant of God, Mother Mary Veronica, the Foundress of the Apostolic Carmel, the first Principal of the School, and an array of dedicated and committed predecessors who nurtured the Institution with innovative programmes and projects during the last 145 years. This prestigious Institution from its very beginning has been imparting holistic education to the students who have left the portals of St. Joseph’s.

I am indeed happy to stress that our Institution has preferential option for the poor and ever stands for the emancipation and improvement of North Kerala. With the whole hearted co-operation and support of the local Managers, Sisters, teaching and non-teaching staff, St. Joseph’s has secured ranks and distinctions in Public Exams, medals and awards in cultural programmes and Youth Festivals, and trophies in sports and projects.
I gratefully remember the members of the P.T.A. who always co-operate in the construction of new blocks and in conducting fests and anniversaries.
My wish and prayer is that this prestigious educational institution continue to be a beacon of wisdom, light and excellence to the future generations of students of North Kerala, irrespective of caste, creed or religion and with preferential option and commitment to the marginalized of the society.
Josephites you are the light of the world. A city built on a mountain cannot be hidden. Your light must shine before others so that they may see the good you do and praise your Father in heaven. Josephites, you are the salt of the earth and so you add taste to the lives you come in contact with.
Josephites, your rootedness to your Alma mater is the bond of unity so where ever you are and whatever you do you are sure of your identity. You are fondly loved and remembered everyday. May the great zeal shown by the foundress Mother Veronica to educate the girls in the western coast of India in the 19th century be praised.
